Jerry Allen Christenbury

HICKORY Jerry Allen Christenbury, 59, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. Jerry was born Aug. 10, 1955 in Burke County, to the late Sue Minton Christenbury and Herman Christenbury. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ray Christenbury; and a nephew, Cole Vanhorne. He was a truck driver for 28 years for Mid State Contractors. Surviving are his father, Herman Christenbury; sister, Robin C. Hefner of Conover; brother, Billy Christenbury and wife, Sandra of Hickory; grandmother, Emily S. Christenbury; nephew, Chris Hefner of Conover; and nieces, Courtney Christenbury of Hiddenite and Miranda Christenbury of Hickory. Services will be Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earnest Richards officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo. Synod Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday, Feb. 5), at Hickory Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greater Hickory Corporative Christian Ministries, 31 1st Ave., SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
