Jerry was an incredibly hard-working man whose hands were never idle. He owned and operated Floor Specialist of Martin County, where his dedication and craftsmanship built a successful business and lasting reputation with lifelong friendships.
In retirement, Jerry poured his energy into the things he loved most- his family, his yard, and his faith. He took pride in having the best yard on the block, tending carefully to his plants, flowers, and his beloved squirrels, peacocks, and sand cranes. He loved riding his lawn mower, filling bird feeders, and admiring the work of his own hands.
A man of many interests, Jerry enjoyed his church family at New Hope, playing the stock market, poker, and pool, and had a knack for making and fixing things. He especially loved to play the lottery and always believed his next ticket would be the winning one.
When he retired, Jerry found a new passion in horses, investing in his first horse, “Jaybird.” With his trademark curiosity and drive, he learned everything he could about horses and soon became a proud supporter of his daughter Christie’s love for the horse industry.
Jerry’s love for Vicki was steadfast and deep. She was by his side through every moment of his cancer journey- through countless doctor visits, long drives, and tireless care. They were just two days away from their wedding date, and three days from his birthday, a reflection of how close their hearts had already become.
Strong in his faith, Jerry was a true man of God, He always carried an extra Jesus Calling book to share with nurses, friends, or anyone he felt could use a bit of encouragement. His positivity, willpower, and joyful spirit were unshakeable- he could turn any bad day into something good.
