

Jimmy was born in Catawba County, North Carolina to the late James Alex Franklin and Myrtle Jane Mace. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Franklin; brothers; Ray Franklin, George Allen Franklin, Bill Franklin, and Boyd Franklin; sisters; Nettie Heffner and Dorothy Huffman.
He was retired co-owner of Hickory Home and Garden Center. He also was retired from Auto Supply. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was aboard the USS Trathen during the Korean War.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jeff Franklin; daughter, Jane Corley and husband Gary; grandchildren Jenna Corley, Aiden Caviness, Adia Caviness, and blessed children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by marriage; sister, Jean Ervin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Franklin will be held at East Taylorsville Baptist Church in the sanctuary on Monday, March 18th, 2024 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Kevin White officiating. The family will receive from 4:00-5:45 PM prior to service. Burial will be held at Catawba Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 at 11:00 AM with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jimmy’s favorite charity, St Jude’s Research Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
