Lee Eugene Drum Sr.

Lee Eugene “Gene” Drum, Sr., 84 of Hickory went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, at Frye Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on October 4th, 1941, in Henry County, Virginia, Gene was the son of the late Carl Eugene Drum and Hazel Reverne Barber Drum. Gene went home to be with his Lord and Savior and his sweet wife, Madelaine, on April 22, 2026. Gene was none for his immense love for the Lord and his family.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Madelaine Drum; his daughter, Tammy Conway and his son, Scotty Drum.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Lee Drum, Jr and wife Teresa; his brothers, Jerry Drum and wife, Thula and Ronnie Drum and wife, Glenda; his grandchildren, Beth Vetetoe (Tim), Josh Conway and wife, Cynthia, Hayley Deal and husband, Matt and Caleb Drum and wife, Emily; his great grandchildren, Eric Vetetoe and wife Laura, and Sarah Vetetoe.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, at 1:45 pm with Pastor Billy Miller officiating. He will be laid to rest at Catawba Memorial Park following the service.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Drowning Creek Baptist Church Building Fund at PO Box 814 Granite Falls, NC 28630 in Gene’s name.
