

Lillian was born January 31, 1920 in Haywood Co. to the late Vincent and Cumi Long Messer.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Weaver Jolly, a daughter, Gearldine Sandlin, a grandson, Russell Sandlin, two great-grandchildren, Braxton Wayne and Lila Grace Whisnant and a dear son-in-law Wayne Whisnant, four brothers and three sisters. .
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church; when she was well she was very active in her church and loved her church family.
Surviving are daughters; Shirley Whisnant Black and husband Jim of Hickory and Mae Burgen and husband Reid of Conover, eight grandchildren, Beverly Brittain and husband Kevin of Hickory, Kimberly Whisnant of Hickory, Scott Whisnant and wife, Ruby of Hickory, Anita Nackles of Jacksonville, NC, Rendy Synder of Hickory, Reba Payne and husband, Brad of Hickory Mike Burgen of Hickory, Mark Burgen of Hickory fifteen great grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren a sister, Edna Rathbone and husband Bill of Canton, NC.
Services will be held on Friday, September 17th 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home with the Reverend Eddie Sapoch officiating
Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 17th 2010 from 12:45 P.M. until 1:45 P.M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
