Mrs. Margaret Ruth Sherrill Sides

She was born on February 7, 1923 to the late Maud Rebecca Carpenter Sherrill and William Henry Sherrill, Sr.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years. R. C. Sides, Jr., 2 sisters, Helen and Virginia Sherrill who died during childhood , 3 brothers, Hugh Harmon Sherrill, Sr., Shuler Stanford Sherrill and Lloyd Cletus “Pete” Sherrill.

Except during the years of World War II, she worked in the textile industry as a sewer. After officially retiring, she continued to work with her children at their answering service, A Better Connection. Coupled to her strong work ethic, was her love of family and friends and her unwavering belief in and devotion to the almighty Father and His son, Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and joined Amazing Grace Lutheran Church after St. Paul’s merged with St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are daughters, Sandra Rebecca Sides and Paula Loree Horne and husband, James, a son, Jack Walton Sides all of Hickory, granddaughters, Erica Suzanne Sides Derr of Greensboro, Christie Horne of Hickory, grandsons, Shaun Lee Sides and wife Kelly of Conover,Kyle Horne of Hickory great granddaughters, Kari Ann Sides Klay of N.C., Sarah Elizabeth Sides of Cornelius, and Samantha Derr of Greensboro, sister, Zelma Haynes of Hickory, brothers, William Henry Sherrill, Jr and wife Jean, Jack Delano Sherrill and wife Jenny and Bobby Franklin Sherrill and wife Shirley all of Whispering Pines, N. C., a special nephew, Hugh Harmon Sherrill, Jr. of Hickory, nephews, Stephen Lake, David Forest, Christopher Scott and Jeffery Lance Sherrill and a niece, Karen Virginia S. Sanders and husband Adrian.

Services will be Saturday, October 9, at 3:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends, Al Mullen and Ryan Ray officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:45 until 2:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
