Mary Kate Farr Barger, 82, of Conover, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Carolina Caring of Newton. Born September 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Howard Farr and Allie Sipe Farr. Mary Kate loved her family and all their family dinners. She enjoyed going to flea markets and estate sales.
Mary Kate is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jerry Lee Barger, Sr; son, Jerry Lee Barger, Jr; daughter, Debbie Parker (Terry); brother, Howard Farr, Jr; grandchildren, Jerry Lee Barger, III (Lindsey), Dakota Barger (Kelsey) and Tyler Parker (Stephanie); great- grandchildren, Lucie Barger, Levi Barger, Mila Barger, Maddy Parker and Ben Parker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. John Savage officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.
A receiving of friends will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Barger, Lee Barger, Dakota Barger, Jonathan Baumgarner, Trent Lafone, and Tommy Childers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
