Mary Mark Moren, 59 passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice. She was born in Alamance County, on December 17, 1958, she was the daughter of late Robert Eugene and Helen Cardwell Moren. Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers Arthur Moren and wife Margo Heydt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Emery Moren and wife Teresa of Lexington, NC, and Chris Moren and wife Bonnie of Granite Falls; nieces and nephews, Patrick Moren, Mikayla Heydt, Chris Moren and wife Sara, Robert Moren, Katie Moren Wegner and husband Garrett, Shannon Moren, Sean Moren and Garry Lee Dunn Jr.; great nieces and nephews, Skylar Moren, Brooks Moren, Jane Wegner, Lelia Dunn and Sidney Dunn; special friends Suzanne Sewell and daughter Bea, and Linda Markley. Over her 31-year career in education, Moren spent 12 years in Catawba County, six as a guidance counselor and six as the student services coordinator. She started her career as a counselor at the college level before jumping into public education where she was a K-12 counselor in Watauga, Mitchell and Alexander counties, in addition to Catawba County. Mary’s compassion for others continued with her Shetland Sheepdog, Tucker, becoming certified as a therapy team for people in hospice and assisted living.
