Mary Ruth Phillips

MARY CLINE PHILLIPS CONOVER - Mary Cline Phillips, 86, of Conover went home to be with her Lord on October 4, 2014. Born on June 11, 1928 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Lee Cline and Ara Cline Hefner. Mary was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she quilted and crocheted baby blankets for the Cradle Roll. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary where she was past president. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, George M. Hefner and her brother, Billy Lee Cline. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Sigman and husband Darrell of Conover, Carla Hafer of Conover; grandchildren, Scott Sigman and wife Patty of Newton, David Hafer Sr. of Conover, Teresa Whitworth and husband Danny of Newton; great-grandchildren, Devin Sigman and wife Jennifer of Charlotte, Erica Brooks and husband Jason of Morganton, Lacey Hafer of Hickory, Shelby Marcus and husband Matt of Conover, Matthew Hafer of Conover; great-great-grandson, Solomon Sigman; sister, Bobbie Brooks of Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 2 PM at Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Schudde and Pastor Brian Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 PM at the church.
