Nate. I wish I had kept up with you beyond my years in NC. 

You taught me more than probably ever knew. Gardner-Webb was more fun thanks to you and what you taught me as a new community based services social worker was planted as good seed into my life that has come to fruition in a way you wouldn’t believe. 

Since sometime last year, I had been reminding myself to reach out to you, to ask how life was going and to tell you about how I continued to work in the field of Mental Health Counseling after I moved to Louisiana in 2004 and that today I own a licensed mental and behavioral health/addiction counseling agency in Louisiana. 

I truly thank you for what you taught me! It played a major part in changing my life. I love being able to help individuals and families to heal, recover and reclaim their lives. That love was a seed that was planted way back in Boiling Springs, NC and Shelby, NC and Hickory, NC., by you.

Nate, I apologize for not making the call or Facebook message when I thought to reach out.

I attempted to search for you today and what I find is that you’re not with us any longer.

I had the privilege of knowing Nate from our LCA days.  Even though it's been almost 22 years since I've actually seen him or talked in person with him, I have never forgotten the kindness he always showed me.  He was a special kind of guy, one that you don't meet everyday and who loved his family tremendously.  You are all on my heart and in my prayers.  Blessings to you.

I worked with Nate at the Dept. of Social Services in Shelby NC. He was a great guy. Always kept me laughing and always laughed at my corny jokes. I know he'll be missed. Praying for peace and comfort for your family.

Becky, My heart breaks for you and your family at the loss of your son.  Although it has been years since I have seen you and you are miles away, I always remember your love of God and gentle spirit.  I'm praying that God is sustaining you through this time with His peace, His presence and His comfort.

I am praying for the Hoffman family in this hard time. NATE was a great guy, we had many good times together. He loved his family so much, and talked of all of you often. He will be greatly missed.

Love and prayers for Nate's family! My husband and I became friends with Nate in a bible study group. It didn't take long to realize Nate had a wonderful relationship with the Lord! He was always so thoughtful and caring with others in the group. He will surely be missed greatly!

Sheri and I had the great privilege of Nate being a good friend to our son Shaun. They spent a lot of time together while they both were enrolled in Liberty Christian Academy. Nate was one of those boys you just hoped your child would hang out with. Nate Sheri and I love you and we'll never forget you.

Becky and Brad - I just heard about the untimely and unexpected passing of your son Nate.  I haven't seen you in so long since our days with Athletes and Action but I remember when the twins were born - we were all friends of the Collings family and the babies were born in Sacramento.  I just want you know that I will be praying for your family during this difficult time. Nate must of been a remarkable person as I read the article and viewed the pictures of you all.  He seemed to be greatly loved and gave love to his family and exhibited true joy. His vocation to deal with people with mental illness was truly a calling as so many people suffer and there is not enough help for them. Love and prayers to Nate's family and friends! It was a joy getting to know Nate in bible study. His relationship with the Lord and Savior was very obvious. He was always so kind to everyone! Always, Nate had a big smile on his face and had something comforting to say to others! He will certainly be missed!
