HICKORY- Paul Edgar Lanier of Hickory, age 81, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Valley Nursing and Rehab in Taylorsville. Born January 3, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward Lanier and Ruth Pitts Lanier. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Miller. He is survived by his wife, Doris T. Lanier, of the home; sisters Gladys Lanier and Ruby Lanier; niece Teresa Killian of Hickory; nephews Jonathan Miller of Bethlehem and Patrick Miller of Newton; brother-in-law Guy Miller of Hickory and a close friend and caregiver Terry Gresham of Taylorsville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hickory Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Seaman officiating.
