On Friday, July 27, 2018, Regina (Hamrick) Link, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and breast cancer survivor of 29 years passed away at her home in Hickory, North Carolina. Regina was born on November 5, 1955 in Rutherfordton, North Carolina to Peggy Hamrick and the late Pete Hamrick. Regina attended the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where she met her beloved husband, John, and graduated with a degree in Psychology with Honors. She then went to work for AT&T Bell South Advertising and Publishing until retiring in 1988, to battle breast cancer.
Regina was the loving wife of John Link of Hickory for 37 years. She is survived by her mother, Peggy Hamrick, her children, Chris (Whitney) of Huntersville and Kara of Charlotte; her sister Kim Parnell of Atlanta and brother, Pete (Deneen) Hamrick of Rutherfordton. Regina will also be fondly remembered by her grandson, Cameron, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, her dear friend, Nitza Kira and will be missed by her dog, Missy, and cat Gracey.
The family will receive friends at Drums Funeral Home, 940 29th Ave NE, Hickory, North Carolina on Tuesday, July 31from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life service will be officiated by Reverend David Ziehr at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 2304 Springs Road NE, Hickory, North Carolina on Wednesday, August 1 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Regina can be made to Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Research or The Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.
