Born in Catawba County on July 31, 1964, he was the son of the late Cecil Burl and Betty Yoder Coffey.
Ricky retired after 30 years as Police Chief for Longview Police Department. After retirement he worked part-time for Nissan and Napa Auto Parts as a delivery driver. He also was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his fiancé Penny Coffey, best friend like a brother Larry Barger and his wife Michelle, his Aunt Rosie Yoder and his fur companions Waylon, Leo and Thelma.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 1:45 pm to 2: 45 pm at Zion Lutheran Church. The Funeral will follow at 3:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend David Drysdale officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be retired police officers that worked with Rick, and honorary pallbearers will be close friends of Rick.
