

He was born on September 26, 1925 to the late Guy Henderson Frye and Mattie Abee Frye in Catawba County. Robert was a life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees.
Along with his parents, Robert is preceded in death by six brothers: Hershel Frye, Harold Frye, Bus Frye, Raleigh Frye, Ned Frye, and Arnold Frye; and two sisters: Mildred Dietz and Marie Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 65 years, Lou Harris Frye of the home; daughters, Janet Frye Faucette and husband Del of Gibsonville, Carole Frye Teague and husband Shea of Hickory; grandchildren, Josh Faucette and wife Lauren, Liz Teague Johnson and husband Jay, Stephanie Teague; great grandchildren, Reid Faucette, Tucker Johnson, and Finn Johnson; sister, Martha Eggers; and nieces and nephews.
Robert graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College where he played football. He was a decorated serviceman while in the US Air Force during World War II and in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Robert spent his career as a General Contractor throughout Western North Carolina and was a former member of the Hickory Regional Planning Commission.
He was awarded North Carolina’s highest civilian honor, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. for his community service. Robert was a member of of the Longview Lions club for 61 years, where he held both local and state offices. He served on the Board of Directors for First Savings and Loan and was a past Chairman of Longview Recreation Commission and NC Commission for the Blind where he was also a past President. Robert especially enjoyed spending time with his family, where he was known as Pop.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Following the service, the congregation is invited to the Fellowship Hall to greet the family. Rev. Jackie Taylor will be officiating the service.
