Robert Dale Lowman

HICKORY Robert Dale Lowman, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice after a period of declining health. Robert was born Sept. 3, 1930, in Burke Co., to the late C.P. "Neal" and Rinnie Hudson Lowman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Shook and Sue Bass; and two brothers, Clyde Lowman and Herbert Lowman. He was retired from Century Furniture as plant manager of the upholstery division after 35 years of service and a U.S. Navy veteran. Surviving are his wife, Mary Smith Lowman, of the home; son, Michael Lowman and wife, Debra, of Hickory; grandsons, James Williams and wife, Jennifer, of Valdese and Neal Lowman and wife, Samantha, of Hickory; great-grandsons, Logan Williams, of Morganton and Mason Lowman, of Hickory; great-great- grandson, Cayden Williams, of Morganton and sister, Helen McDaniels, of Salisbury. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 10, at 4 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dwight Lowman and Terry Adkins officiating. Following the service, military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #48, Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to service from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at Hickory Funeral Home.
