Robert "Bob" Henry Reed

CONOVER----Robert “Bob” Henry Reed, 84, passed away May 7, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Bob was born April 18, 1930 in Catawba Co. to the late Henry S. and Pauline McRee Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dana B. Reed and Robbie Reed and a sister, Mary Sue Franklin. He was a member of Viewmont Baptist Church and was retired as general manager of Barnhardt Mfg., Hickory Plant. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a special friend to many and will be greatly missed by each of them. Surviving are his wife, Geraldene “Gerri” Carpenter Reed of the home; son, Kyle F. Reed of Hudson; daughters, Debbie Frazier and husband, Mike of Claremont and Kathy Young and husband, Jeff of Hickory; daughter-in-law, Debbie Reed of Hickory; granddaughters, Jessica Reed, Tasha Carlisle and husband, Jeremy, Jamie Young, Mikayla Frazier; grandsons, Brett Reed, Adam Frazier, Hunter Frazier, Jeff Young and wife, Carolynn; great granddaughters; Trinity Hicks, Haley Young and Brooklynn Young; great grandsons, Mason Carlisle and Jake Young; sisters, Margaret Spencer and husband, Buck of Granite Falls, Margie Barkley of Hickory and Wanda Childers and husband, Oliver of Vale; brothers, Jim Reed and wife, Ruby of Newton, Dean Reed and wife, Joan of Hickory and Edwin Reed of Bethlehem. Services will be Monday, May 12, 2014, at 3:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Homer Greene officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
