

He was born on December 20, 1951, to the late Rev. Norman Tyler and Mary Jane Barnhill Tyler in Horry County, SC. Ronald came to Hickory in 1976 to work at Carter Carburetor and worked with them until they closed. Then, he worked at Getrag Gears in Maiden until his lung transplant and early retirement as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer. Ronald was also Cub Master for Pack 240 and committee member of troop 240 and Piedmont Council. He dedicated many years as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Ronald was currently a member and trustee of The Chapel Church of Hickory.
Along with his parents, his sisters, Mary Pearl Tyler Shelley, Gloria Joan Tyler Spear; brothers, Hoyt Elwood Tyler, Larry Ray Tyler, Michael Wendell Tyler; and nephews, Greg Shelley, Mark Taylor, Tommy Russell, Doug Russell and Eddie Robinette preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Harriet Pat Tyler; beloved sons, Russell Shaun Tyler, of the home, Ryan Garrett Tyler (Kristin); two granddaughters, who were the light of his life, Bailey Jo Tyler, Kinsley Ann Tyler and a number of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Chapel Church of Hickory, 410 26th Ave NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Chapel Church of Hickory. Dr. B. Dale Watts will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
