

HICKORY—Ruth Williams Perry, 82, of Hickory passed away Thursday, March, 5, at her home in Hickory. Born January 13, 1933 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Wofford and Annie White Bumgarner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first born son, Allen Williams and by her husband, Ralph Williams, second husband, William Perry, two sisters, Irene Patton and Barbara Rector, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is survived by sons, Rex Williams and wife, Joanne of Granite Falls, Bruce Williams and wife, Cindy of Granite Falls and Wayne Williams and caregiver, Libby Jupin of the home; daughters, Margie Oakes and husband, Paul of Hickory, Peggy Harmon and husband, Dee of Morganton and Debbie Mahon of Hickory; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a brother, Jr. Bumgarner of Hickory.
Ruth retired from Shuford Mills and has lived at her home in Hickory for the last 20 years. She was of Baptist Faith and will long be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Her willingness to feed anyone who came knocking at her door, stranger or not. Her house was always filled with people who loved and cherished her for her straight-forward approach to life and she will be sorely missed. The family will receive friends at Hickory Funeral Home on Sunday, March 8, from 12:45- 1:45 P. M. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 P. M. with Rev. Johnny Willis officiating.
