

HICKORY—Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Sain, 92, passed peacefully December 12, 2010 at Autumn Care of Drexel. She was surrounded by her family which she loved dearly. Now she is with her Lord and Savior, singing with the heavenly choir.
Sally was born September 1, 1918 in Cleveland Co. to the late Arthur and Lily Dellinger Carpenter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ivan Sain, Sr. and sisters: Pearl Sain, Mary Lee Carpenter and Kelly Walker and special aunt: Hessie Dellinger.
She was a member of Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church, Lawndale.
She and her husband were owner & operators of a dairy farm in Cleveland Co., N. C. for many years. Later in life they retired from Drexel Furniture in Hildebran, N. C.
Surviving are daughters: Ivanna Ruff and husband, Steve of Conover and Peggy Towery and husband, Richard of Hildebran, son: Ivan Sain, Jr. of Hickory, granddaughters: Rory Hefner, Donna Vanhorn, Michelle Shotwell, Amanda Carswell, Kesha Causey, grandsons: Gary Towery and Mark Watson, great granddaughters: Laura Warren, Amy Hefner, Brittany Porter, Katlyn Causey, great grandsons: Jason Hefner, Michael Towery, Alex Vanhorn, Zachary Shotwell and Tristen Carswell and a very special fifth generation great great-grandson: Luke Warren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 15, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Art Kreidel and grandson, Gary Towery.
The burial will follow with a graveside service at Carpenter’s Grove Baptist Church, Lawndale, N. C.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 – 8:30 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
