Mrs. Thelma Simmons

THELMA JAMES SIMMONS Thelma J. Simmons passed away peacefully at Catawba Regional Hospice on June 25, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born on February 20, 1925 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Stella and Luther Robertson. Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oscar, and after being married for over 60 years, has now joined him in heaven. If there ever was a true love between two people, they shared it. Thelma was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Conover, NC. She retired from the furniture industry. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother. Thelma is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Simmons, and wife Jock, daughter and son-in-law, Pam Tallent and husband Jimmy, all who reside in Newton. She is also survived by one granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Carmen Houston and husband Bobby, who reside in Catawba, NC. Thelma is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 12 pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Conover. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends from 11 am – 12 pm at the church prior to the service.
