Vincent Francis Bernesser Jr.

Vincent “Vince” Francis Bernesser, Jr., age 86, of Bethlehem, NC, formerly of Climax, NY passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Trinity Village in Hickory. Born on March 14, 1928, in Bronx, NY to the late Vincent and Emilie Bernesser.

On October 10, 1953 he married Evelyn Bergman and they started a family. While they began their family, Vince developed his entrepreneurial skills by owning and operating several businesses; Vince’s Floor Covering, Wishy Washy Laundromat and Coxsackie Carwash. Through the example he set as a father and businessman, he instilled in his children the belief that they could accomplish anything they committed their hearts and minds to.

In 1984, they retired to Bethlehem, NC where he was a member of the Gems & Minerals Club of Catawba Valley, Toastmasters, St. Aloysious Catholic Church in Hickory and St. Francis of Assisi in Lenoir. He was a strong, hardworking man who loved the country and outdoors. Vince loved to garden. In the last few years, he became passionate about singing, eating shrimp and drinking margaritas. He continued to profess to us all, “Make your good better, better best and never let it rest.”

Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; and brothers, Ralph and Cornelius Bernesser.

He is survived by his children, Vincent Bernesser III of Albany, NY, Daniel Bernesser (Barbara) of Coxsackie, NY, Thomas Bernesser of Delanson, NY, Colleen Wallner (Armin) of Hickory, NC, Dr. Darlene Euler of Fort Plain, NY and John Bernesser of Coxsackie, NY; grandchildren: Jason Johnson, Joshua and Joseph Bernesser, Krystal Barber, Theresa Mesick, Vanessa Clark, Amber Wallner, Julie and Eric Euler, Holly Bernesser, great grandchildren: Liam and Finnegan Johnson, Skymaea Bernesser, Bella Bernesser, Kaden, Jorden and Katelyn Barber and Sophia Wiltse Wallner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Vincent Bernesser will be held at 11 am at St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenville, NY on Friday March 13 with Father Flannery officiating. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville, NY.
