On December 30, 2025, Vue Lee passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Morganton, North Carolina, surrounded by the life and love he had built over decades. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, devotion, and quiet strength that will continue to live on through his family and community.
Vue Lee was born on March 10, 1962, in Fibnasnis, Vietnam, to Paj Yia Lee and Song Vang, and was the beloved grandson of Yog Txhiaj Kuam Lee. His early years were shaped by constant movement and survival as his family sought safety and closeness with loved ones. Their journey carried them through Kiaj Npaum, Naj Ncoy, Pham Coos, Thiaj Nyuaj Qus, and Khaub Xib in Laos before the hardships of war forced them to flee to Thailand. There, the family lived in the Vinai refugee camp until 1980, when they were granted the opportunity to begin a new life in the United States of America.
Vue’s first home in the United States was Billings, Montana, where he settled with his sister, Ly Lee, and his mother, Song Vang. Determined to build a future through hard work, he completed vocational training at Trapper Creek Job Corps, gaining skills in custodial services, landscaping, plumbing, and welding. Though he was given the chance to operate his own business in 1982, Vue chose instead to move to Merced, California, putting family first by caring for his mother and stepfather. There, he worked at MCMC Hospital as both a custodian and a translator, serving others with humility and dedication.
In the summer of 1983, Vue met the love of his life, Sue Xiong Lee. They married that fall and began a life together rooted in love, partnership, and perseverance. Together they raised three children—Houa Vang, Kayoua Lee, and Fong Lee—instilling in them the values of hard work, respect, and family above all else.
Seeking greater opportunity for his growing family, Vue relocated to Morganton, North Carolina, in August of 1992. He worked as a welder at Capri Industries, Inc., and later found his long-term professional home at Valdese Weavers. From 1998 until his retirement in 2021, Vue worked as a sample weaver, known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and unwavering work ethic.
Above all else, Vue Lee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He lived a life of service, sacrifice, and love—always placing the needs of others before his own. His presence was steady, his heart generous, and his love for his family immeasurable. He will be remembered not only for the journey he endured, but for the kindness, strength, and quiet wisdom he shared with everyone around him.
Vue was preceded in death by his parents, Paj Yia Lee and Song Vang; his brother, Tou Lee; and his half-brother, Seng Yee.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Xiong Lee; his children, Houa Lee Vang (Tou), Kayoua Lee (Nick), and Fong K. Lee; his cherished grandchildren, Zoey, Alicia, Parker, and Riley; his sons-in-law, Nicholas DiFiore and Tou Vang; his sisters, Ly Lee, Mee Lee (Chong), and Mai Lee (Zeng); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held starting Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 8:00AM, until Sunday, February 1, 2026, 11:00AM, at Drum Funeral Home, located at 940 29th Ave NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
