Wanda Jane (Byrd) Lewis

Born in McDowell County on August 16, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Thad Clifton and Cleet Elizabeth Sisk Byrd.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence William Lewis Jr. and her brother Harold David Byrd.

Wanda had a bachelor’s degree in science from Gardner Webb in education K-4. She was Director of Penelope Daycare for 18 years where she was also a member. She retired from United Technology Corporation formerly Moose Products, where she worked in electronic assembly of security systems for over 20 years.

She is survived by her daughters Pamela Reed (Douglas Reed) of Hickory, Kimberly Lewis (Tim Burton) of Conover and Teresa Huffman (Jeff Shook) of Claremont; grandchildren Shelbie Huffman (Spencer Brown) of Sherrills Ford, Cody Huffman (Amber) of Denver , Samantha Reed of Hickory, Jordan Massagee (Brooke) of Elkin, and Baylie Hull (Bryce) of Conover; great granddaughter Madelynn Elizabeth Huffman, McKenna Rose Massagee and soon to be Charlie Mae Massagee.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 17, 2025 from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm at Open Door Church, formerly Penelope Baptist. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Reverend Nicholas King officiating

Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park
