Conover – Wilfred Garfield (Will) Baker, Jr., 82 of Conover went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 10, 1939 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Wilfred Garfield and Mozzell Marie McCullough Baker. Will loved jazz music, traveling, photography, art, cooking and most of all his family. Will was a very spiritual person and always had a positive and uplifting attitude. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Vernon Baker and Ernest McCullough and a sister Bertha Baker Woods.
Survivors include, a son, Alvin Baker; a daughter, Catreenia Baker (Marvin Young); Tenita Orr and 4 grandchildren, Johnathan, Tara, Camille, A.J., and one great grandchild, Averah and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Catawba Funeral Home at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Dwayne L. Tutt. Burial will follow the service at Catawba Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
