

Worth McLee Killian, 89, of Hickory, left his earthly home Wednesday December 14, after a period of declining health. He was born September 2, 1927 in Catawba County to the late Baxter M. Killian and Sadie Bowman Killian. He was preceded in death by his wife Mae S. Killian, also brothers; Carl Killian wife Evelyn, Glenn Killian wife Lillian, Clyde Killian, and sister, Betty Killian.He was a life member of St. Stephens Lutheran Missouri Synod).
Served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947. Worth served as a supervisor on the Catawba County Soil and Water Conservation District for fifty years. Also served on the Board of Directors of Catawba Farm Bureau for 30 years. He was also a member of the Catawba County Cattlemen’s Association and a retiree of General Electric and a life-long farmer.Those left to cherish his memory are sons; Steve Killian wife Debbie of Hickory, David Killian wife Debbie of Hickory, grandsons; Bryan Killian wife Crystal of Franklin, NC, Tyler Killian wife Kristin of Hickory, granddaughters; Traci McCombs husband Eric of Newton, Boni Killian of Hickory, Anna Killian of Hickory, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Friday December 16 at St. Stephens Lutheran (Missouri Synod) in Hickory from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.. The service to celebrate his life will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
