It happened that today (Dec 15, 2021) I was filing old weightlifting contests in which you father participated.
Although some of his contest results may not have been reported in the relevant lifting magazines, I did find 67 results of weightlifting, powerlifting and other contests.
I was quite impressed with your father's ability, especially in the press in the weight categories in which he competed.
So far as I know he competed from 1955 to mid 1968.
May Mr. Petillo Rest in Peace.

I hope the Petillo family doesn’t object to my recounting my memory of Mr. Petillo. In 1964, I was an 18-year-old lifting weights at the Electchester AA in Queens. Mr. Petillo was always friendly, always smiling, and his form in the “press” was awe-inspiring.  I knew him for only a few months, but I have never forgotten how much I admired him. Pacou,
My memories of you will always be pure ones. Dancing around carefree while you played the accordion. You played with such natural mastery that as a little girl I assumed all grandfathers knew how to play. As I grew I realized I didn’t know a single soul who played nor did I ever hear of anyone owning one. You were special in many unique ways that I’ve only been able to truly appreciate as I’ve grown. I identified with your weightlifting career and now as I get into the piano, I am in awe of your musical talents. Your silly and youthful energy will always be how I describe “Pacou”. Distance, time, space and connection slowly got blurred but I will always associate you to childhood nostalgia that brings me a smile. Nina, you are a light in this world and I hope you continue to shine strong knowing he will be guiding your days and sending you “winks” in all of the unexpected ways.

All the vacations we went on since we were little. Every Sunday visiting Grandma & Grandpa n Nanny & Grandpa.
I remember when you were painting our house , you were wearing your painting cap n beige pants , you climbed the ladder to the top n I was right behind you. You taught me how to mow the lawn when I was 12. I Love mowing my lawn to this day because of you Daddy.
Any time a fuse blew I’d follow you to the fuse box and you’d show me how to change the correct fuse..the List goes on and on

Fun time with music, photos & dancing... Forgot film, I remember too. He always had a smile for all ...The food was always the best! We all enjoyed.

Today I lost my soul mate for over 31 years.
I was so blessed to have had so many happy times with him.  I will always cherish the memories of our vacations, dancing at the Winner’s Circle and the relaxing times at our trailer in PA.
Tony, you were the love of my life and will always be.
I will miss you so very much.  


May you rest in peace Tony!! We have such wonderful memories that we shared with you and Nina. Happy hours every Friday night at Brightfellows where we shared lots of laughs and good times as well as intimate dinners where you would play the accordion and piano with Matthew as a young little boy. He always loved spending time with his Uncle Tony. You will be missed terribly and always be loved. Now you can share your music with the angels!! Fly high and rest easy!!
