Born in La Coruña, Spain, Tony immigrated to New York City at 16 in search of a better future. Proud of his Spanish roots and equally proud to call America home, he built a life defined by hard work and devotion to family.
For 59 loving years, Tony shared his life with his wife, Mary. Together they built a marriage grounded in love, resilience, laughter, and unwavering partnership. He was a proud and devoted father to Kristine, Jacqueline, and Anthony, and a loving grandfather to Elizabeth, Isabella, Julia, Madeleine, Anthony Jr., Celia, Emilia, Gabriela, and Charlotte, who brought him endless joy. Family vacations and time spent together created memories that will be treasured forever.
To know Tony was to love him. Playful, goofy, and a legendary wise guy, he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones. Whether telling stories, playing cards, enjoying a round of golf, or relaxing with a gin and tonic, Tony had a way of making everyday life feel special.
A gifted mason, carpenter, and steamfitter, Tony took immense pride in his craftsmanship and was respected for his skill, hard work, and attention to detail. He built not only with his hands but with his heart.
Above all, Tony will be remembered for the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the life he built for his family. His stories, his humor, and his spirit will live on in every family gathering, every shared laugh, and every gin and tonic raised in his memory.
Family and friends are invited to attend a wake service on Friday, May 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Antonio's memory.
