Was the son of Henry V. and Dorothy, brother of Roy (Cathy) and uncle of Caroline Hakkenberg (Lucas) and Margaret Colton. Don graduated from Adelphi University where he met the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Linda. He worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance in various capacities for 35 years. Don is survived by his two sons, Christopher (Elizabeth) and Andrew (Diana). He truly enjoyed the company of his grandchildren Evie, Reed, Annabelle, Timothy, and Gregory, and also enjoyed a good round of afternoon golf.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Don will be remembered for his strength of character, honesty, good judgement, and sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at The Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, 125 West Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY, on February 20th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. A Prayer Service will also take place at the same venue on February 20, 2026, at 4:00pm.
