She was born on March 27, 1951, to her devoted parents Miguel Angel Lazo and Antonia Bonilla. Dora shared 57 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jose Bonilla. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Dora was a nurturing and devoted mother to her children Thomas, Nelson, Evelin, Zeida, Melissa, Yenifer, and Christian. She embraced her role as "Mami Dora" with boundless love, shaping the lives of her 23 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren with her warmth and wisdom.
As a sister to nine living siblings, Dora fostered deep connections within her family. Though her brother Antonio preceded her in death, his memory remained a cherished part of her life.
Dora's kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a beacon of compassion, offering a helping hand and a listening ear to those in need. Her gentle spirit and unwavering support served as the glue that bound her family together.
In her leisure time, Dora found joy in simple pleasures. She reveled in the tranquility of the beach, delighted in the challenge of solving Rubik's Cubes, and cherished moments spent playing Trumpo with loved ones. Her passion for cooking shone brightly, especially when preparing her favorite dish, Pupusas, for her family to enjoy.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, located at 125 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, New York 11801. A final farewell will take place with interment on the following morning, June 12, 2024, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, New York.
