The Mola family mourns the loss of their sibling Frank, who after 3.5 months of hospital and rehab treatments passed away of kidney/liver failure and other complications. He was 66. He put up a brave struggle, after having suffered from diabetes and other physical and psychological impairments for many years. He will be interred in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA, where his parents are also laid to rest.
In lieu of visitation ceremonies, family and friends will be contacted for a gathering at a later date.
Frank was the oldest child of the late Michael Angelo Mola and Audrey Mary Gorman Mola. He is survived by Stephen John Mola with wife Mary Kiely Mola and son Michael Anthony Mola; Roger Andrew Mola; and Andrea Jean Bornholdt (nee Mola) with husband Karsten Bornholdt and children Michael and Valerie Bornholdt.
Frank received his education in the Hicksville Public School system, followed by Nassau Community College, Grumman Business School and he also took several computer courses. He worked in various fields over the years, including news delivery, Scallop Petroleum (where his father worked), Nassau Community College, Verizon/Cable TV, Cheyenne, government polling stations, consumer product survey participation, and other firms. Frank’s love of cooking and spicy food found their outlet for expression in a few restaurant jobs as well.
His other hobbies included active participation in bowling, volleyball, tennis and billiards as well as supporting his favorite sports teams on television, especially football and baseball. His friendships were few but precious. Like our father, he faithfully donated blood for many years. Sculpture crafting, writing poetry, caring for his beloved cats and enjoying pop music rounded out his pastimes. He especially enjoyed playing with his two nephews and niece when they visited.
Frank enjoyed living in San Diego for a few years, driving out and back in his car and seeing the country. Otherwise, he was a New York resident for over 60 years, and after caring for our mother for 10 years in the family home until she passed in 2021, he lived until his prolonged hospital stay in an apartment in Bellmore.
Donations may be made In Frank’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
