Kenneth Albert Bruder, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on April 27, 1934, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Mildred Bruder.
Kenneth's life was defined by his love for his family and his deep devotion to his wife, Jane Paula Bruder (née Sobotka), with whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising four children: Kenneth Bruder, Jr. (Jason Harris), Sandra Cochrane (Rick Cochrane), Susan Scibilia (Glenn Scibilia), and Barbara Hunt (Deiter Hunt). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Trevor Cochrane, Sabrina Barnhill (Graham Barnhill), Douglas Scibilia, Gunnar Hunt, Allison Hunt, and Abbey Hunt, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Baby Barnhill.
Ken was a man of many passions. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, challenging them to sudoku puzzles and cheering for his favorite sports teams, the New York Mets, New York Giants, and New York Islanders, always passionate about their victories and heartbroken by their losses.
He had a fervent love for college sports, especially for the men’s and women’s basketball teams at the University of Connecticut (UConn), where he proudly studied for his degree as a math major and became a lifelong supporter of the Huskies.
A lover of travel, Ken enjoyed exploring the world with Jane by his side. Their travels took them across the United States, as well as to Europe, where they experienced the rich history and culture of Germany, France, and Sweden. Ken also had a fondness for visiting the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, where he relished in the excitement of the slots.
Ken’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished for years to come.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be a private final disposition, with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
May Kenneth Albert Bruder, Sr. rest in peace.
