

Born on April 11, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, to Robert and Margaret Waring, Margaret lived a long, meaningful life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Margaret met the love of her life, the late Angelo A. Grella, and together they built a beautiful life filled with cherished memories, laughter, and a strong sense of family that she carried throughout her life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Margaret T. Grella, Deborah A. Connolly, Vincent J. Grella, and Robert S. Grella; her grandchildren: Dawn Grella (Ben), Melissa O’Connor (Nick), Steven Connolly, Kristen Najdek (Luke), and Bobby Grella; and her great-grandchildren: Haley O’Connor, Madison O’Connor, Zoey Najdek, and Ava Najdek.
Margaret had many passions that brought joy to her days—visits to the casino, doing word finds, watching the news, and cheering on her beloved NY Mets. Above all, she adored her growing family. She especially treasured keeping up with her great-granddaughters through countless photos and FaceTime calls, which lit up her heart.
A gifted hostess and devoted matriarch, Margaret instilled a deep sense of family unity. She took great pride in preparing holiday meals and creating warm, loving memories that will be carried on for generations. Soft-spoken but full of wisdom, she was never afraid to offer guidance or speak her mind when it mattered most. Her presence was a steady, comforting force—one that will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Homes, 125 W. Old Country Rd, Hicksville, NY 11801.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family RC Church, 17 Fordham Ave, Hicksville, NY 11801. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in honor of Margaret’s memory.
Margaret’s love, strength, and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
