Mrs. Daur was my third grade teacher in 1965. I remember her as always being interested in her students, a teacher who taught with conviction , fair to all 50 of us in her classroom, compassionate yet one with a strong moral compass that she so wonderfully modeled .  It is a testament to her character and teaching ability that I can easily conjure up her face after all these years. 
     I count myself blessed that I had this  woman of integrity teach me not only academic lessons, but how to behave and appreciate all that God has given me.

Mrs. Daur was my favorite teacher. Although she was quite tough, she was also fair. My favorite memories include when she would show us slide photos from her trips around the world like the Berlin Wall in Germany. She encouraged us to travel in order to learn about history, the world, and other cultures. I kept her in my memories as I had the great fortune of traveling in my adulthood singing the song she taught us: ... Faraway places with their strange sounding names are calling, calling me :) 

Thank you, Mrs. Daur, for the influence you had on generations of children who learned in your classroom. I am confident in saying that not one of us has forgotten you, truly. I am so very glad that we ran into each other after mass at St. Ignatius, (I think it was the year before the 100th anniversary). I was so happy to see you in good health and have the chance to thank you for the memories and lessons learned. Thank you also for escorting me over to the school so I could have the chance to chat with Miss Reilly and Miss Shield as well! :) 

I am sorry to learn of your passing (only today from family in the area & the St. Ignatius bulletin). The next time I visit Hicksville, I will be sure to bring you a single yellow rose.  May your family be comforted by only good memories, and may you rest in eternal peace where I am sure you will have learned the true meaning of the word JOY!

So much of my child hood memories at Nana & Pops House (Joan & Joe Robinson), include Martha. Her infectious smile, joyous demeanor and eternal friendship. It was amazing as a kid to see such strong, positive and lasting friendships such as Martha's with my grandparents. I'll never forget her magical ability to float in the pool, and sitting on her lap eating "Squiggles" - I sadly can't tell you what those were but they were a delicious snack at cocktail hour. It fills my heart with joy knowing the best friends are back together. My heart is with all her family and loved ones she leaves behind. How lucky we were to know her :)

What a wonderful life. I can probably speak for most of her St Ignatius students. There was nothing like Dauer Power. RIP

I worked with your mom at St. Ignatius in 1982  to 1984. It was my first job and I was a little nervous. Your mom was so kind and welcoming and made me feel at home. I really loved working there because of  people like her.  She loved the kids and I remember that she had a great sense of humor! I am very sorry for your loss and will keep her and your family in my prayers.

MY HUMBLEST  OF CONDOLANCES TO THE FAMILY OF  MRS.DAUR ,WHO WAS  MY 3RD GRADE TEACHER .I REMEMBER HER A VERY ASTUTE  WOMAN OF GOOD CHARACTER

I'm sorry to see that Aunt Martha has passed away, I remember going to her house in Hicksville and the way she would squeeze my cheeks. It's sad to realize that the last of that generation is gone now. Condolences to her family and friends.
