Betty graduated from High Point Central High School in 1963. She became a member of Oak Hill Friends in 1964 and remained a member all of her life. She married James Wallace Russell on October 24, 1964.
Betty was quiet in demeanor, but when she spoke, everyone listened. She was a strong and steady force in the lives of those who loved her. Betty had a passion for flowers and birds. She spent many hours in her garage building stained-glass birdhouses as her favorite hobby . She loved watching the birds and kept a notebook nearby as they visited her feeder. Betty and Wallace had great adventures on their bus travels together.
Betty is survived by son, Jeffrey Wade Russell; brothers, Tim Poston (Joyce) and Gary Poston; grandchildren, Haley Russell Hutchens (Marshall), Nathan Russell; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Hutchens, and Olivia Hutchens; and best friends, Hope Harvell and Ginger Rutherford. Betty is predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother Tommy Poston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, North Carolina, 27262. The family invites you to attend the visitation Tuesday, March 30th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A graveside service will be Thursday, April 1st, at 11am at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
