

Clara Geraldine Varner, age 84, went to be with the Lord in the early morning of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to her faith, and a fierce love and commitment to her family.
Clara, affectionately known as Geraldine, was born on September 8, 1941, in North Carolina, daughter to the late Robert O'Brian Lawson and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Lawson. Geraldine was the youngest of five siblings. She was predeceased by her brothers D.C. Lawson, Arnold Thomas Lawson, Billy June Lawson and her sister, Sally Louise Carter.
On December 7, 1956, Geraldine married the love of her life Robert (Bobby) Varner, who preceded her in death in 2005. Together they shared a wonderful life and raised three beautiful daughters.
Geraldine devoted over 20 years of her life as an upholstery sewer at Jack Cartwright, Inc. After retirement, she enjoyed the simpler pleasures in life; fishing adventures with her husband and daughters, bus trips with close friends, annual beach trips with the girls in the family, shopping, and cooking meals that brought family together.
A devoted Christian, Geraldine was a lifelong member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church in High Point where she sang in the choir and served as a member of the Women in Faith Group. She was a strong and caring woman wo will be missed dearly by many.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Donna V. Wood, husband Donnie, of Jamestown, North Carolina. Tonia V. Brooks, husband Mike, of Thomasville, North Carolina, and Susan Varner Isom of Thomasville, North Carolina. Four grandchildren, Robert Todd (Michelle), Crystal Gainey (Steven), Angel Beery (Taylor). and Khoury Wood. 8 great-grandchildren, Autumn Brown-Foy (Jarren), Peyton Wood (Nicholas), Branson Warren, Jeremiya Warren, Tanner Brown, Taylor Brown, Khirstyn Warren, Evelyn Beery, and McLain Beery. Two great-great-grandchildren, Delaney Foy and Olivia Shepard. Geraldine is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Geraldine is also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chris Brown and Kevan Brown. Once great-grandchild, Walker Beery.
Visitation will be held at Spring Hill United Methodist Church, 240 Spring Hill Church Rd., High Point, NC, at 12 on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The memorial service will begin at 1:30 in the church. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Memorial Park.
