Danay Merope Savvas, age 70, a resident of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on May 20, 2026. Born June 1, 1955, in Fulton, Georgia, Danay was the daughter of Harry Paul Savvas and Mary Gloria Erneston and carried their love and lessons forward with steady grace.
Danay earned her bachelor’s degree from High Point College, a foundation that served her well throughout a life marked by diligence, good judgment, and quiet strength. She approached each season with resilience and purpose, meeting responsibilities with the kind of steadfast work ethic that inspires lasting respect.
An accountant until retiring last year, Danay was known for the dependable care she brought to her work—thoughtful, precise, and wise in the way she handled both details and people. Even in the most serious moments, her humor could lighten a room, a welcome warmth that made others feel at ease and genuinely valued.
Outside of work, Danay found joy in reading, going to Rock and Roll concerts, laying out by the pool, and spending time with her animals. These simple pleasures reflected a life lived with appreciation and heart, and a spirit that remained devoted to what she loved.
Danay was a faithful member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where she played the organ for over 50 years. Through that long, devoted service, she offered something selfless and enduring—music given faithfully, year after year—becoming deeply cherished by those who worshipped alongside her and heard her gift.
Danay was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Paul Harry Savvas.
Surviving are her brother, Konstantine Savvas (Debra), her nephew, Harry Savvas (Rachael), her two nieces, Julia Tucker (Brad), Sarah Tucker (Jeremy), several great-nieces and nephews, her “sister” Joanna Savas and her fur baby, Jagger. Beloved by her family and all who knew her, Danay will be remembered with gratitude for a life defined by devotion, strength, and a generous spirit.
A Funeral Service for Danay will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 1 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, officiated by Father Anton Frunza. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Sechrest- Davis Funerals and Cremations of High Point, NC from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
