

Dan was born in Florence, S.C., on January 8, 1951, son to Daniel Riley Schipman, Sr. and Theresa Floyd Schipman. He graduated from Pembroke State University with a BA degree. After graduation, he went on to become a South Carolina Highway Patrolman like his father. His years on the South Carolina Highway Patrol were something he always cherished. For the past 20 years he was an account manager with AAA Cooper Transportation. Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of thirty-six years, Nancy Brown Schipman of the home; two sons Daniel Riley Schipman III and wife Amanda and their daughter Ada of Kernersville and James Raymond Schipman and his daughter Kayla of Thomasville. He is also survived by his two sisters, Peggy Yarborough of Florence, SC and Faye Skeen and husband Murray of Jamestown. Dan’s wife’s family were very special to him and they also survive: brother-in-law, Wilson Brown and wife Trudy and sister-in-law, Jean Carmichael and husband Greg , of High Point and their respective families.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 5th at 11:00 A.M. in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery by Pastor Rick Kavanaugh. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to The Officer Down Memorial fund, 2444 Cypress Court, High Point, N.C. 27265. This fund assists the families of local law enforcement officers who lose their lives while serving others.
