Ms. Gladys Moorefield Phillips died at her residence September 8, 2014. She was born in Damascus, Virginia the daughter of Emmett and Sophia Jenkins Moorefield. She retired from Oakdale Cotton Mill. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Claude Gillen and Bill Phillips, Brothers Jack and Ken Moorefield, sisters Connie Greene and Ruby Owens and a grandson Perry “Jason” Gillen.
Surviving are two sons, Perry Gillen and wife Beverly, Samuel “Sandy” Phillips and fiancé Sherry Duncan. Granddaughters Chasity Beard and husband Jamie, Isabella Phillips and Brooke Blackmon. Great grandchildren, Jacey, Chastian and Braylee Beard, brothers, Burl and June Moorefield of High Point and sisters, Helen “Tenny” Owens and Ella Mae Owens of Damascus, Va. Roxie Williams of Trinity and Sylvia “Lee” Widner of High Point.
The sons would like to thank the family and friends that helped with their mothers care.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Gladys’s residence.
