She was born in 1925 in Owosso, Michigan, to Susan Ott and John Doyle. On May 3rd, 1947, she married Byron Keyes, who preceded her in death after 62 years of marriage.
She worked at The High Point Enterprise for 16 years, and after moving to Chapel Hill, worked for local government of Orange County until her retirement.
She is survived by two daughters, one in Greensboro, and one in Paris, France.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 2:00pm. at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina.
