Bud was born on July 15, 1933, in Guilford County, NC to the late David J. and Mae Mayhew Parker. He was married for 57 years to Gwen Blevins Parker, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2010.
Bud is survived by his two sons, Michael G (and Marcy) Parker of High Point, NC and Timothy D (and Debi) Parker of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind his wonderful grandchildren, Matthew (and Kristi) Parker of Charleston, SC, Madison Parker of High Point, NC, Blair (and Sarah) Parker of Kansas City, MO, and Mackenzie Parker of Atlanta, GA. He was looking forward to meeting his first great granddaughter who is due this month. Bud is also survived by a sister, Louise (and Larry) Sledge of Columbia, SC.
Bud was self-employed with Parker and Sloan Mason Contractors for over 45 years. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with his sons and grandsons. Bud also enjoyed spending time with Gwen at their place at North Myrtle Beach. As long as he was able, going to meet “The Breakfast Club” each morning was a priority.
Bud was a faithful member of Oak View Baptist Church for more than 40 years. He was an active member of the Men’s Senior Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart group. In his younger days, Bud played on a church softball team and sang in the choir.
