

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church by Father Joseph Zuschidt O.S.F.S. and a private family burial will follow. Visitation with the family will be in the narthex at the church one hour prior to the service.
Joseph Price was born on August 15, 1927, in High Point, the son of Melva Thomas Price and William Hughes Price and was the grandson of Margaret Milne Thomas and Perley A. Thomas. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 38 years Eleanor Shumaker Price, his sisters Margaret Ferrell, Melva Webb, Dorothy Webb, Anne Price and his brother William Price.
Mr. Price attended High Point High School, boarding school at Belmont Abby and junior college at Brevard College. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Elokomin and returned to graduate from his beloved High Point College in 1951.
Mr. Price was a lifelong member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was active in the home furnishings industry and served as President of William Alan Inc. for over 50 years. He was part of various church and community organizations and was an avid golfer. He loved vacationing with his family on Holden Beach and spending time with his dogs. He enjoyed his retirement years in Lakeland, Florida, and will forever be remembered for his unique personality, gift of storytelling and sense of humor by all that knew and adored him.
Survivors include his children Anna Gehrken (Andrew) of Martinsville, VA; Alan Price of Jamestown, NC; K.J. Morgan (Kyle) of Jamestown, NC; and Michael Price of High Point, NC. His Grandchildren include Thomas and Liza Watkins; Jake, Abby and Noah Price; Maggie, Benjamin and Joshua Grissom; Drew, Greer and Dylan Reid Gehrken and their families; a large extended family of nieces and nephews and their families who all brought him so much joy.
The family would like to thank very special caregivers, Tee Stevens, Sheree Markwell, Ellie King and Kenneth Woods, that were part of his journey, for all of their unconditional love and support. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to be directed to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Hospice of the Piedmont.
