Kathy was born in Greensboro, September 2, 1946, a daughter of the late David and Madeline Lanning. She worked at Concept Plastics for 28 years, retiring in 2011. Kathy enjoyed music, NASCAR and playing cards. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth “Squeaky” Watford, a granddaughter, Katherine Brown and a brother, Richard Lanning.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Dewey Ray Smith; a daughter, Tammy Blackburn and husband Robert; two sons, Jesse and Keith Watford; two sisters, Barbara Durante and Mae Craddock and husband Bill; a brother, Brian “Buddy” Lanning and wife Natsume; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Kathy’s life will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Pastor Paula Bost. The family will receive friends following the service.
