
A Memorial Service will be held for Ms. Hayworth at 11am on Monday, June 6th 2011 at Sechrest Funeral Chapel in High Point.
Martha Hayworth was born in Durham, North Carolina on February 3, 1930 to the late Mildred Cabaniss and James Gay. She was a graduate of Durham High School and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital’s School of Nursing.
After becoming a Registered Nurse and working with various hospitals and physician offices, she had a successful career in Long Term Care nursing administration. She was Director of Nursing at The Presbyterian Home and The Evergreens, both in High Point, NC and the first Director of Nursing at Well Spring Retirement Community in Greensboro, NC.
Ms. Hayworth received many honors during her long and storied career including Nurse of the Year, North Carolina Long Term Care Director of Nursing administrator of the year and a United States Congress proclamation on her service to both seniors and the nursing profession.
After retirement, she continued to work as a consultant to both Long Term Care facilities and pharmacy management companies.
Survivors include one son, Robert Hayworth and his wife Paula, two grandsons Scott and Michael, all of Overland Park, Kansas, and several cousins.
The family will receive friends following the service.
