Rev. Melvin "Mel" Anderson, 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
Mel was born in Salida, CO, April 24, 1926, a son of the late Carl and Mabel Murray Anderson. He began his working career on the family cattle ranch and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mel was then called to serve his Lord and began his ministry as minister of education at 1st Baptist Church in Asheboro, Mr. Airy and Florence, SC. He then moved to High Point and was minister of Education and Business Administration with Green Street Baptist Church and later Grace Church. After his retirement in 1990, he continued his ministry with both Sechrest and Davis Funeral Home for many years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Crouse.
Surviving are his wife of seventy years, Barbara Kinlaw Anderson; a daughter, Kristi (Stan) Ledbetter; two sons, Vern Anderson and Steve (Waynel) Anderson and five grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alpha1.org.
