Nancy Lavada Slate Stone

She was born on May 16, 1925 in Guilford County to the late Curtis Edgar and Mabel Dodson Slate. Nancy was a longtime resident of Garden Grove, California and moved back to North Carolina about 22 years ago. On July 30, 1948, she married her husband Eugene Edward Stone until he died in 2000. She worked as a nurse until retiring in 1984.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred.

Surviving Mrs. Stone are her son, Eddie H. Stone of Garden Grove, Ca; and daughters, Colleen George and husband Bruce of Las Vegas, Nv., Sandra J. Hink and husband Rodney of Westminster, Ca., Patty K. Amey and husband Clifford of Tumwater,Wa. and Kathy S. Evans and husband Andy of Thomasville; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
