
Ralph Donald Phillips, age 82, formerly of High Point, passed away peacefully November 8 at Bermuda
Village in Advance, North Carolina.
Don was born on June 27, 1932, in Marion, North Carolina to Ralph Lee Phillips and Thelma Ross Phillips.
His father owned a Studebaker dealership in the 1950’s. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill. He worked as a stockbroker and manager of Thompson Mckinnon in High Point for seven
years. He later opened and managed Wellington House, a human resources agency. He served his country in the
U.S. Army and was discharged in 1962 as a Captain in the Special Forces Division. Don was a founding member
of Emerywood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Laura Keeter Phillips.
For Don, family always came first. Surviving him are his children, Betsy Phillips Kahn and husband Dan,
David Lee Phillips and wife Toni, and Neal Phillips Persinger. He also leaves four grandchildren, Hannah and
Lilly Persinger and Henry and Meghan Phillips.
Memorial Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 11 at 3 p.m. at Emerywood Baptist Church in
High Point by the Reverend Dr. Robert Ferguson. Inurnment will be private in the church columbarium. The
family will receive friends after the service in the gathering space at the church.
