Richard Blackburn

Mr. Blackburn was born January 12, 1931 in Surry County to Dewey Blackburn and Irene Sparks Blackburn.

Mr. Blackburn previously attended Brentwood Baptist Church; most recently he had attended Church of God in Statesville.

Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his wife Zelma Asbill Blackburn as well as his parents and brother Johnny Blackburn.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Dixie Gentry and husband Carl of Fayetteville; son, Brian Lee Dix Blackburn and wife Megan of Atlanta; sister, Evelyn Daviss; two sister-in-laws, Hazel Bowen of High Point and Rosa Staley of Jamestown; four grandchildren, James Brian Gentry, April Lynn Hatchell, Michael Whit Blackburn and Henley Jane Blackburn and one great-grandchild, Braxton Hatchell.

A graveside service for Mr. Blackburn will be conducted Monday, June 19, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sechrest Funeral Service of High Point from 2:30 until 3:30PM, prior to the service.
