Betty Ruth Barker

Betty Ruth Barker, age 84, of Waterford, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Clarkston. She was the loving wife of the late Ronald Barker; mother of the late Vicki Fortin, James (Toni) Lewis, and Gregory Lewis; grandmother of Jessica Johnson, Christopher Fortin, Lindsay Lewis, Benjamin Lewis, and Zachary Lewis; great-grandmother to Jada, Maya, Brooklyn, Hayden, and Levi; and sister to Ronnie Bailey, Bruce (Jackie) Bailey, Bud Bailey, the late Curtis (Diane) Bailey, and the late Judy Anderson.

Betty was born September 28, 1938, in Kettle Island, Kentucky, the daughter of James and Eula Helton. Throughout her life, Betty worked as the supervisor in the admitting department for the ER at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital for many years until her retirement. She and Ron were introduced through Ron’s daughter. Ron and Betty spent many years together, and were eventually married on April 16, 1987. They shared 12 wonderful years together until Ron’s passing in 1999. After her time at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, Betty also worked as an assistant for her husband, Ron during the last few years of his career as an industrial electrician. In her free time, Betty could always be found enjoying a good book, spending time with her family, or taking trips all around the country with her husband. She was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.

In accordance with Betty’s wishes, cremation will take place. An inurnment will take place at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
