He is survived by his sister, Sylvia Sue (Eugene) Klender; life long friends, Onas (Colette) Smith, and Paul Valette; wonderful neighbor and friend, Gary (Chrystil) Welbaum; his precious "son," Toby; as well as many wonderful neighbors.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Cora Mae (Farris) Evans; his brother, Harold Dean Evans; and his good friend and loving companion, Clair Fairchild.
Darrel retired from General Motors after thirty years. He enjoyed NASCAR races, the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise, and all types of cars. But most of all, Darrel loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was generous with everyone, and would happily help anyone he could. He will be greatly missed.
Darrel's family will receive friends at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356 from 4:30 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. A private burial will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Seymour Lake Cemetery in Brandon Township. Those desiring may consider memorial donations to the Veterans Walk to End Alzheimer's. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
