

He was born in Portland, CT to John and Ethel Klauzenberg. David served his country honorably in the Air Force for 4 years at Eglin Air Force Base and for 2 years at the Air Force Academy. He pursued his education diligently, earning Master's Degrees in Business and Engineering from the University of Michigan, an accomplishment which he was rightfully proud of.
David dedicated 39 years of his career to Chrysler as an Electrical Engineer before retiring. His passion for classic cars led him to join the North Oakland Bow Ties car club, where he found camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts. He and his beloved wife Susan shared a love for skiing and were active members of the Thunderbird Ski Club, traveling across Europe in search of new adventures on the slopes.
David met Susan, the love of his life, while line dancing, and they married on July 20, 1996. Being with Susan brought him immense happiness, and he cherished their time together deeply. Known for his meticulous nature and ability to fix anything, David was also skilled in home improvement projects, always ensuring everything was in perfect order. Family was paramount to David, and he adored spending time with his children and grandchildren. He made it a priority to visit them regularly, cherishing each moment spent together.
David was preceded in death by his parents John and Ethel Klauzenberg. He is survived by his devoted wife Susan, his children Susan Rosenthall, Kathleen (Michael) Piano, Jennifer (Jason) Browning, Derick Emery, Christopher (Nancy) Emery; brother John Klauzenberg and sister Julia Longfellow; and his grandchildren.
A memorial gathering for David will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM with memorial service beginning at 12:00 PM at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E Highland Rd, Highland, MI 48356.
